DMC LLP is a proud sponsor of the Ottawa Women Dentists Study Club Spring Meeting and Lecture entitled “Opioid Crisis: The Role of Health Care Providers” on March 29, 2019, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Dr. Abubaker will discuss the unintended consequences prescription opioids can have on patients. He talks about the relationship between over-prescribing and addiction using a story that hits close to home; his 21-year-old son passed away after overdosing. Dr. Abubaker suspects his son’s addiction began after he was prescribed opioids for a shoulder surgery. An overview of opioid prescription guidelines will also be reviewed.
